Iron Out, Inc. is excited to announce we are becoming Summit Brands on April 3, 2006. We have grown and changed in size and product mix in the nearly 50 years of being know to our consumers, customers and business partners as Iron Out. While the Iron Out product is still our largest and most important brand we now have other important brands like Disposer Care and Dishwasher Magic to name just two. It was important for our name to reflect that growth and allow for future growth and change.Our new name has to communicate our past and planned growth and tie back to our corporate heritage and commitment to Fort Wayne, Indiana. Summit Brands does just that. The obvious tie is the past and future growth reflected in the upward slope and the peak pointing further skyward reflected in our new logo. The less obvious tie to Fort was the real deciding factor.
Fort Wayne is known as the Summit City. This is not because of majestic mountains in Northern Indiana but because Fort Wayne was the highest point on the Wabash and Erie Canal. This canal system brought growth to Fort Wayne and was important to our nation’s growth, connecting the Eastern Great Lakes with the Mississippi River. Summit Brands intends to use the same pioneer spirit and work ethic to build another great economic driver in Fort Wayne. We are communicating that vision and goal to the world in our new name: Summit Brands.
This name change does not affect our commitment to our customers, consumers and business partners. While our name may be new, we value the relationships we have built since our founding in 1958.
