CLEANING TIPS
Filter-Mate Potassium Permanganate
Please follow cautions and instructions on the label carefully.
Regeneration - Normal procedure for regenerating an iron filter is usually specified by the filter manufacturer or supplier and depends on water quality. There are many types, designs and methods of introducing Potassium Permanganate to the filter. A normal method is to make a solution and apply automatically or manually to the filter at regular intervals. If unsure consult owners manual.
Dosage - For each cubic foot of filter media, 4-6 ozs. dry Potassium Permanganate is required. It may be added directly to the filter or mixed with water and added as a solution. 4 ozs. of Potassium Permanganate will dissolve in 1 gal. of water at room temperature.
General Information - Stains can be removed from the skin with a diluted solution of sodium bisulfite or lemon juice.

CLEANING TIPS
Filter-Mate Chlorine Pellets
Please follow cautions and instructions on the label carefully.
Dry Pellet Chlorinators - 1. Shock treat the well to a chlorine residual level of 5 ppm (parts per million) by dropping pellets directly into the well. 2. Adjust chlorinator pellet feed rate to retain a chlorine residual of .6 to 3 ppm. 3. Use test kit provided with your chlorinator or purchased from your dealer to determine your chlorine residual.
Temporary Well Sanitation - 1. Private Well: New wells & wells that have had service work should be disinfected before returning to use. A strong solution of chlorine, 200 ppm, is recommended to destroy disease causing organisms that may be present in the water. Filter-Mate Chlorine Pellets can be used to disinfect wells, cisterns, storage tanks & water lines. However, the amount of chlorine needed is dependent on the amount of water that must be treated. To provide approximately 200 ppm chlorine residual in each 100 gal. of water treated, 1/4 lb. or 110 pellets must be added to the water. 2. Water Mains: Add enough pellets to water line or main to shock system with desired residual. Normally 100-200 ppm (each pellet contains 180 ppm per gallon of chlorine).

CLEANING TIPS
Filter-Mate Softener Cleaner (Formerly Tan-Out)
Please follow cautions and instructions on the label carefully.
Removes iron from a fouled water softener which increases capacity and unit efficiency. Use as preventive maintenance for all softeners on iron bearing water. Filter-Mate Softener Cleaner is a safe/environmentally friendly cleaning agent for removing hard water deposits on household items.
WATER SOFTENER-FIRST APPLICATION: Dissolve 2 cups in 1 qt. of warm water. Pour into brine well. Softeners with no brine well, pour directly into salt storage tank when salt level is low. Manually regenerate softener. Repeat as needed. PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE: Add 1/2 cup to every 40 lbs. of salt added to brine tank. Layer to ensure a continuous dose of Filter-Mate Softener Cleaner during each regeneration. ADJUSTING pH: The correct feed rate of Filter-Mate Softener Cleaner is reached when the pH of the treated water is between 7.0 and 8.0. Follow procedure for injecting solution into water system specified by the chemical feed pump manufacturer or supplier. DISHWASHER: With machine empty, add 1/2 cup of Filter-Mate Softener Cleaner instead of soap. Run normal cycle. Repeat if needed. GENERAL PURPOSE CLEANER: Use 1/2 cup per 1 gallon of warm water. CLEANING TIPS
Filter-Mate Liquid Softener Cleaner
Please follow cautions and instructions on the label carefully.
Filter-Mate Liquid Softener Cleaner will chemically clean the fouled resin bed of a water softener and restore the exchange capacity of the resin. Over time, most types of water softener resins can become fouled with iron and other contaminants that decrease the performance and efficiency of the ion exchange system. This fouling can also cause channeling, pressure drop, loss of capacity, water hardness, and iron leakage. Dont let this happen to your softener! Regular use of Filter-Mate Liquid Softener Cleaner will minimize fouling, prevent mineral buildup on parts, and extend the life of your softeners resin.
FIRST APPLICATION FOR A FOULED UNIT Use 4 oz. (1/2 cup) of Filter-Mate Liquid Softener Cleaner per cubic foot of softener resin. (Most residential softeners contain approximately 1 cubic foot of resin. If unsure, check your owners manual.) Pour Filter-Mate Liquid Softener Cleaner directly into brine well. If your softener has no brine well, pour Filter-Mate Liquid Softener Cleaner directly into salt tank when salt is low. Manually regenerate the softener. Repeat regeneration if taste, odor, or discoloration is detected in discharge, then run cold soft water tap nearest the softener until water tastes, smells, and appears normal.
REGULAR/MAINTENANCE USE Add 1-2 ozs. (1 tbsp.) per cubic foot of resin at each regeneration.
AUTOMATIC FEEDER SYSTEMS For best results, use with an automatic resin-cleaning feeder system. Fill the feeder to the FILL mark indicated on the feeder but do not overfill. Add more Filter-Mate when the solution level drops to or below the REFILL line on the label.

Filter-Mate SaniWell - Chlorinating Granules
DIRECTIONS FOR USE: It is a violation of Federal law to use this product in a manner inconsistent with its labeling.
DISINFECTION OF DRINKING WATER (Potable Water): PUBLIC SYSTEMS: Mix a ratio of 1 ounce of this product to 6,000 gallons of water. Begin feeding this solution with a hypochlorinator until a free available chlorine residual of at least 0.2 ppm and no more than 0.6 ppm is attained throughout the distribution system. Check water frequently with a chlorine test kit. Bacteriological sampling must be conducted at a frequency no less than that prescribed by the National Primary Drinking Water Regulations. Contact your local Health Department for further details.
INDIVIDUAL WATER SYSTEMS: Dug Wells - Upon completion of the casing (lining) wash the interior of the casing (lining) with a 100 ppm available chlorine solution using a stiff brush. This solution can be made by thoroughly mixing 1 ounce of this product into 40 gallons of water. After covering the well, pour the sanitizing solution into the well through both the pipe sleeve opening and the pipeline. Wash the exterior of the pump cylinder also with the sanitizing solution. Start pump and pump water until strong odor of chlorine in water is noted. Stop pump and wait at least 24 hours. After 24 hours flush well until all traces of chlorine have been removed from the water. Contact your local Health Department for further details. Drilled, Driven & Bored Wells - Run pump until water is as free from turbidity as possible.Pour a 100 ppm available chlorine sanitizing solution into the well. This solution can be made by thoroughly mixing 1 ounce of this product into 40 gallons of water.Add 5 to 10 gallons of clean, chlorinated water to the well in order to force the sanitizer into the rock formation.Wash the exterior of pump cylinder with the sanitizer. Drop pipeline into well, start pump and pump water until strong odor of chlorine in water is noted.Stop pump and wait at least 24 hours. After 24 hours flush well until all traces of chlorine have been removed from the water.Deep wells with high water levels may necessitate the use of special methods for introduction of the sanitizer into the well.Consult your local Health Department for further details. Flowing Artesian Wells - Artesian wells generally do not require disinfection. If analyses indicate persistent contamination, the well should be disinfected.Consult your local Health Department for further details.

Filter-Mate SaniWell - Chlorinating Pellets
DIRECTIONS FOR USE: It is a violation of Federal law to use this product in a manner inconsistent with its labeling. These pellets are to be used in pellet dispenser for automatically treating well water in those areas where treated water supplies are not available. This product is intended to be used for treating water by placing the pellets at the base of a well to sanitize until consumed. It is not intended to replace safe and properly constructed wells. EPA recommends for human consumption .2-.8 ppm to be determined by using a test kit provided with the pellet dispenser. One pellet normally treats 29 gallons of average well water. These pellets are designed to dissolve in less that 1 hour. Consult the manufacturer's installation and adjustments so that the required chlorine residual can be maintained at all times.
Public Wells - Before using, flush the casing with a 50 ppm available chlorine solution [1 ounce (35 pellets) of calcium hypochlorite for each 100 gallons of water]. The solution should be fed by gravity into the well and thoroughly mixed and agitated. The well should stand overnight or for twelve hours under chlorination. It may then be pumped until bacterial examination of a representative raw water sample will indicate whether further treatment is necessary.
After the initial treatment, begin feeding a 1% available chlorine solution of this product with a hypochlorinator, as directed above, until a free available chlorine residual of at least 0.2 ppm and no more than 0.6 ppm is attained throughout the distribution system. Check the water frequently with a chlorine test kit. Bacteriological sampling
